Well, a number of you all saw the new piece I did of the merman yes? I posted it on Roli (short for Roliana, which is an avatar/forum site) as well. Immediately someone gave me a critique about it. Understandable. What they did not do though was say ANYTHING good about. Just that, to quote: "his tale fish thing seems a bit too short." That's it. Nothing else. Nothing at all positive.
I asked what they meant, for I was confused, and basically said it thinned out too much. That I suppose I could understand too. But then, without my asking for it, they go ahead and outline everything that I need to do to correct it, seen here: [link]
I dunno, but I felt like that was a real slap in the face. I felt like that was basically saying "You suck. You need to be better. To be better, you have to draw like me, because I am oh so grand and can do anatomy."
Wtf? I know I need to get better at anatomy, everyone does. And I did ask for a little critique, nothing real harsh, and this is what the person gives me.
I tried to mention too that this is bloody fantasy. Who the fuck knows how the anatomy goes? I'm trying so hard to not be a bitch to that person, cause then it'd go into a major flame but... ugh.
Also, anatomy guide lines. I hate that. I truly do. And to try and apply such thing to a FANTASTICAL CREATURE THAT DOESN'T EXIST THUS WE DO NOT KNOW THE ANATOMY OF is rather ridiculous.

I'm sorry if I'm sounding whiny and bitchy but, I needed to rant and get this off my chest.
